About Us

Who We Are
Magic City Cycle Chix (MC3) is a grass-roots group of like-minded, bike-minded gals who love cycling and live in or near Birmingham, Ala. Founded in January 2011 by a two-wheeled mama who wanted to meet other women on wheels, we started as a simple Facebook group that’s growing at a viral pace. We are roadies, mountain bikers, cruisers, cyclocross racers, and moms towing toddlers in bike trailers up hills that crush some dudes. We are beginners, racers, social riders, and commuters. We ride together for safety, for support, and most of all, for fun.

Our Mission
Building courage, confidence, and community, two wheels at a time. We connect and support women who ride bikes by providing a friendly social network, regular girls-only rides, skill-building events, and a non-competitive environment. We believe biking is good for your health and good for your soul, and it’s not just about being active; it’s about having fun.

Our Goals
Through our private Facebook group (where posts are not visible to lurking non-members), we share updates on news, group rides, events, deals, gear, and relevant tips women cyclists need to know (like paceline Dos and Don’ts, trail etiquette, etc.) We aim to host at least one women-only, beginner-friendly ride every week (road and mountain), and occasional social mixers.

Partners and Symbiotic Groups
We support all of our local bike shops, because we believe that getting more women on bikes is good for the entire Birmingham cycling community. If you’d like to partner with us on an event (such as a Wine, Wenches & Wrenches social/workshop), contact kimhcross (at) yahoo (dot) com.

  1. Hi,

I’m emailing you from Trek Bicycle headquarters and hoping you can provide your address so we can send you a few Trek Women items. We’re working on adding a list of searchable clubs to our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/trekwomen. Many women who post are looking for others to ride with, so we thought this would be a great resource. Please include any other information that you find helpful (such as the year the club began and the number of members) if you’d like!

We’d also like to thank you for your support to help grow the sport at the local level. We have a small package of Trek Women items that we’d like to send. If you could provide your email and mailing address, that would be great.

In addition, if you need help connecting with a local Trek Retailer, we could help facilitate that.

    Thank You!

Tracy – Count me in! I’d love to help make Birmingham a place where my son can safely ride his bike to school. I know other members feel the same. Let us know how we can help. Glad to be in touch! Kim

The Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham would like to invite you to an “I am Creative Birmingham” event. Could you please provide us with an email address, so we may send you an invite. Thank you, Lance

My name is Josie and I’m wondering if I would be able to possibly do an interview of sorts with you (and potentially any female friends who might be interested)
I have a blog: Life on Two Wheels

I’m trying to collect stories/interviews of women who ride bikes. It doesn’t matter the “kind” of riding they do….anything is fine! I live in Decorah, Iowa; we have a strong love of bike riding, but the community of riders is still pretty small.

I’m wanting to inspire women to get on a bike and ride. Inspire women to commute year-round vs. just the fair weather days. Inspire women to try out mountain biking, road, or gravel riding…any kind of bike riding!
Basically just inspire women to get on the darn bike and go!

The most I can do for you at this point in time is link to you on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/lotwblog
as well as in your blog posts and on my blog itself (extra advertising and promotion, for free!) as a thank you for helping me with my project.

  8. Hey there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with?
I’m going to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a tough time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then moist blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had
    to ask!
