Monday
BBC Women’s Beginner/Recovery Ride (Road)
Ride leaves at 5:30 p.m. from the Birmingham Bicycle Company shop in Mountainbrook. Distance is approximately 17 miles. Pace is casual. Focus is on teaching road riding etiquette, paceline skills, etc. BBC shop: 205-870-8330
Tuesday
Bob’s Tuesday Night Worlds (Road – advanced)
Ride leaves 5:15 p.m. from Bob’s Bikes in Homewood. Hard-core training ride frequented by local racers. Short course is about 30 mile, 830 feet elevation gain. Long course is about 45 miles, with nearly 1500 feet elevation gain. Pace is fast. Bob’s Bikes shop: 205-879-2258
Wednesday
Cahaba Watermelon Ride (Road)
Join Barb and Kal at the South Trailhead parking lot in Oak Mountain State Park at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday this spring and summer for a co-ed group road ride. Hang out afterwards for good coversation and watermelon. More info: Cahaba Cycles Pelham shop 205-987-4043
Bob’s Beginner Ride (Road)
Ride leaves 5:30 p.m. from Bob’s Bikes in Homewood. Distance is around 13 miles. Elevation gain around 350 feet. Bob’s shop: 205-879-2258
Thursday
Cahaba Night Ride (MTB)
Weekly co-ed group NIGHT mountain bike ride at Oak Mountain State Park. All skill levels welcome. A high quality, rechargeable battery lighting system is required. If enough folks show up, there will be two groups with two separate leaders. The first group will average 1:30-1:40 for a loop with no stops. The second group, led by Stacey, will be for beginners and intermediate riders. The ride departs from the south trailhead parking lot no later than 5:30 p.m. Everyone must be out of the park by 8:45 p.m. So, follow-up trail discussion and trash talking usually takes place at Margarita Grill on 119 right after the ride. BBC Intermediate Ride (Road)
Ride leaves from the Birmingham Bicycle Company shop at 5:30 p.m. Intermediate pace, about 24 miles. BBC shop: 205-870-8330
Bob’s Tempo Ride (Road/Triathlete)
Intermediate ride on the Irondale/Old Leeds route. Distance is 18-24 miles. Pace is 16-20 mph average. Easy on hills. Triathletes, lights encouraged. Ride leaves 6 p.m. sharp from Bob’s Bikes. Shop: 205-879-2258 or Pat Allison: 205-790-3863
Friday
Bob’s Friday Morning Short Route (Road)
Ride leaves at 6:15 a.m. from Bob’s Bikes. Short route is 20 miles. Long route is 25 miles. NOTE: Details needed! Bob’s Bikes shop: 205-879-2258
Cahaba Beginner Co-ed Ride (MTB)
Spinning instructor, local racer,and personal coach Stacey Davis will be hosting a regular beginner mountain bike ride, open to beginner women and men, at Oak Mountain State Park. The day/time is TBD, but we’ll update when we know for sure.
Saturday
MC3 Beginner Women’s Rides at Oak Mountain (MTB)
Various members of MC3 are leading group rides most weekends at Oak Mountain State Park. Join the Facebook group for regular updates on the day/time, which changes from week to week.
Homewood Cycles Intermediate Ride (Road)
Join John Pugh and the rest of the Homewood Cycles crew at the parking lot behind Homewood Cycles at 7:45 a.m. for an intermediate/endurance pace ride with varyng distances. Homewood shop: 205-879-3244
Cahaba (Cahaba Heights) Intermediate Ride (Road)
Meet at the Cahaba Heights shop @ 7:30 a.m. The pace averages 18-20 mph over rolling terrain. Cahaba Heights shop: 205-967-2003
Cahaba (Pehlam) Rides (Road)
Meet at the Pelham location @ 7:45 a.m. for a pair of road rides. Ride number one will cover around 40 miles at an average pace of 18 mph. Ride number two will incorporate Oak Mountain State Park into the mix – DON’T FORGET YOUR PASS OR $3 ENTRY FEE – covering 15-20 miles with an average pace of 12-15 mph. Sunday
Cahaba Cycles Oak Mountain Ride (MTB)
Meet at the South Trailhead parking lot (where the race starts) at Oak Mountain State Park for a weekly group mountain bike ride. The ride starts promptly at 8 a.m. All skill levels are welcome. There is no designated ride leader, and the ride will be postponed if the weather calls for rain or sub-freezing temperatures. Pelham shop: 205-987-4043
